NOLA_CODE BRINGS COMPUTER SCIENCE AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING INSTRUCTION TO SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS AREA.
Early exposure to computer science helps nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career. However, few New Orleans’s K-8 serving schools offer instruction in computer science and/or computer engineering. Our students deserve better.
ALL NEW ORLEANS’S YOUTH SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING.
- COMPUTER PROGRAMMING (CODING)
Community involvement is key to increasing computer literacy in New Orleans. Most of our workshops are open to the public, many are free, and fee waivers are available to those experiencing financial hardship. Workshops include:
- Teacher Certification – A free one day workshop to help teachers implement the code.org curriculum for grades K-5.
- Parent-Child Paired Programming – A 4 week (6 hours) series that teaches computer science fundamentals
